Lesions and mole removal can employ a variety of differing techniques, ranging from simple biopsies to more complex surgical procedures, these techniques are used to remove lesions that range from benign growths to malignant melanoma. Many times lesions are removed by physicians to ensure it is not cancerous, and, if it proves cancerous, to prevent its spread to other parts of the body.
Reconstruction / Revision surgery involves the restoration of function or form to body parts that have been damaged as a result of injury, disease, or congenital defects. Reconstructive plastic surgery requires technical as well as artistic skills to achieve your aesthetic goals.
Scar Treatment
While no scar can be removed completely, Dr. Brill can often improve the appearance of a scar, making it less obvious through the injection or application of certain steroid medications or through surgical procedures known as scar revisions. Z-plasty is a surgical technique used to reposition a scar so that it more closely conforms to the natural lines and creases of the skin, where it will be less noticeable. It can also relieve the tension caused by contracture. Not all scars lend themselves to Z-plasty, however, and it requires an experienced plastic surgeon like Dr. Brill to make such judgments. Skin grafts and flaps are more complex forms of scar surgery and he will develop a treatment plan for this treatment.
Surgical Scar Revision can change the size of a scar, raise depressed scars or lower elevated scars. Scar revision improves the appearance of a scar while leaving another - though less obvious - scar in its place.
